Dr. Russell Kirks is the only board-certified, fellowship-trained hepatobiliary surgeon in the region, and concentrates primarily on diseases of the biliary system, which includes the liver and pancreas. He has a particular interest in pancreatic cancer and is an expert in some of the most difficult surgeries imaginable. He is a world-class hepatobiliary surgeon. Dr. Kirks is an established physician researcher and has written many articles in the field of hepatobiliary surgery.
Dr. Kirks is a Savannah native who attended Savannah Christian High School. He attended the University of Georgia and completed his medical training at the Medical College of Georgia, which included rotations at our Southeast Georgia campus, located at St. Joseph’s/Candler. After medical school, he completed his general surgery residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, and then additional training with a hepatobiliary fellowship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle.
